Jordan is compact enough to see properly in a week. This itinerary gives Petra the two days it deserves, including the climb to the Monastery and an evening walk through the Siq by candlelight.
Around it sit Jerash, the mosaics of Madaba, the Crusader castle at Kerak, a night in a Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum, and a float in the Dead Sea before you fly home.
